Here are a few ways our family and friends cleanse our malas and crystals:
NO WATER-unless given specific guidance/certain beads break apart/dissolve in water.
Lay them across clear Quartz or selenite
Burn any of the following and hold the mala over the smoke:
Palo santo
Sage
Dry basil
Om incense
Put them outside during any full moon, harvest moon, new moon!
Hold them in your hands and pray the 23rd Psalm
